internships

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati

I interned under Prof. Dipankar Bandyopadhyay, Head of Center for Nanotechnology and Jyoti & Bhupat Mehta School of Health Sciences at IIT Guahati. I spent four weeks working for MobiLab by Primary Health Tech, a start-up company incubated by IIT Guwahati. Mobilab by Primary Healthtech is rapidly growing start up company with a vision to develop next generation healthcare predictive diagnostics, which is affordable and accessible to masses. Mobilab is a multi parameter pocket size point of care device which can provide up to 150 tests with a single charge, app enabled digitally connected ecosystem making robust even for the remotest locations. It provides 25 vital parameteres for diagnosing kidney, liver, pancreas, and heart problems.

In this internship, Prof. Dipankar patiently taught me about various topics, including lipid, carbohydrate, and protein metabolism. I learned about the molecular structure and various types of amino acids in-depth. I researched urea, uric acid, creatinine, albumin, and glucose – biomarkers being used for testing in the product. I also investigated the properties of light and its wavelengths. I conducted 4 different levels of trials for the device with water, carmoisine, and toluidine dye. My internship culminated in creating a comparative presentation where I compared MobiLab by Primary Healthtech POCT (Point of Care Testing) device to different POCT devices available in the market. I conducted intensive research to expand my knowledge and understanding and conducted various levels of trials to test the device.
