The Woodlands Waterway Festival :

The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is a jewel of the Texas fine arts tour and is ranked among the top arts festivals in the country! Set along the scenic banks of The Woodlands Waterway and in Town Green Park, festival guests have the unique opportunity to enjoy a vibrant outdoor gallery with authors, music, food, and kids’ activities while shopping for art created by fine artists from around the world and the nation! Jury-selected artists display unique, original artwork ranging across a variety of mediums at the festival.

Voted as the best event in The Woodlands, the arts festival is a long-standing springtime tradition for families and locals.

I performed in the Woodlands Waterway Festival for two consecutive years – 2013 and 2014. Even though I was young during these performances, I still remember them to this day. I enjoy going back and seeing videos of how I used to be so excited and full of joy to perform and showcase my dancing and Bharatnatyam skills.

Thirty Eight Aniversary Celebrations of Anjali Center for Performing Arts:

I started training under renowned guru Rathna Kumar. She established Texas’ first Indian dance institute, ANJALI Center for Performing Arts, also one of the first in North America. She is a reputed performer, choreographer, teacher, arts educator, and cultural ambassador. She is also a scholar, linguist, singer, public speaker and published author. She has specialised in two classical dance forms, Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, which she studied under renowned Gurus K.J. Sarasa and Vempati Chinna Satyam respectively. She has also studied Abhinaya under Mylapore Gowri Ammal and Kalanidhi Narayanan.

I trained under guru Rathna Kumar for 4 years, from 2011 to 2015 in the Woodlands before moving to India. I made several solo and group performances in many events, including Anjali Center for Performing Arts anniversary celebrations.

The Woodlands Hindu Temple:

The Hindu Woodlands Temple is located in Houston, Texas. With hundreds of visitors daily, the temple holds several performances for young kids and individuals who want to showcase their talents on special occasions.

I performed in the Woodlands Hindu Temple several times for many of these occasions, whether it be Diwali (Indian Festival of Lights) or Holi (Indian Festival of Colors). I was always excited to be on stage.

The Wells Fargo Student Art Contest:

The Wells Fargo Student Art Contest aligns the visual arts with SPA’s mainstage programming. Each season, students from the Houston area submit artwork to SPA to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to have their artwork exhibited around the city. Wells Fargo Student Art Contest receives over 500 submissions from over 60 schools in the Greater Houston area. I represented Deretchin Elementary School in the Wells Fargo Art Contest.

Performances in India:

I moved to India in 2015, I continued to perform on various events organized by my Guru Dr. Parimal Phadke and Guru Archana Manoj. I would always take any opportunity that was presented to me to perform.

It never mattered whether it is a small neighbourhood performance or a large group temple performance, I performed with the same joy and passion. I always wanted to be on stage and share with everyone my love for Bharatnatyam. I moved to Mumbai in 2021 to attend American School of Bombay and to this day, I still love to perform whenever I get the chance even though I get very little time due to my High School Course work.
