Arangetram

An Arangetram is a significant event in the life of a Bharatanatyam dancer, it is the first on-stage formal performance, a test of student and guru and marks the end of students’ training and the beginning of their career. It showcases the dancer’s skills and the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. I started my training at the age of 5 years under renowned guru Dr. Ratna at Anjali Dance Center in Houston, Texas. I performed my Arangetram on November 24th, 2018, in front of over 300 guests at Symbiosis Institute of Management’s auditorium in Pune. The Chief guest for this event was Ms.Eileen Niedermann, Principal of Mercedes Benz International School, Pune and guru of my guru Dr. Parimal Phadke, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Performing Arts, Pune University.

I was only 12 years old when I completed this critical milestone by performing 8 compositions for over 3.5 hours in front of my gurus, parents, grandparents, relatives and over 300 guests. Building up to this grand debut, I practised for hours with musicians who came from different places.

I practised for months on end under my guru Ms. Archana Manoj, ensuring every beat was on taal. This was a significant milestone in my life, I will always be grateful to my guru Ms. Archana Manoj for patiently training me for months leading up to this event.
